It is estimated that over 1.5 million people are members of the roughly 35,000 different gangs operating in the United States. Among those gangs are street gangs, both on the national and local level, outlaw motorcycle gangs, prison gangs, gangs affiliated with organized crime, and gangs made up solely based on ethnicity. Most Gangs are categorized based off ethnicity which brings the message about always sticking to your race and not believing in others and that is incorrect. That is why gangs from races stick together and make a group to feel superior to others.
Over the past decade, annual estimates of the number of gangs have averaged around 27,000 nationally. It’s important because all these gangs are around the world and include many young children across the world. Too many young lives are involved with gangs which then leads to them dying or going to jail. More than 2,000 people are killed each year here in the tiny state of Alagoas, with a population of a little more than 3 million, making it much more dangerous than big cities such as Sao Paulo and Brasilia.
