Social Justice means being equal with everyone and not judging someone by their appearance nor their background. Social Justice is about giving each individual the same opportunities as anyone else. It is also very important to have a balance of authority distribution to avoid corruption. It is important to keep in mind that one cannot assume someone is a bad person without getting to know the individual first. Everyone deserves an opportunity to attain everything they want in life, as long as individuals get the same opportunity as others. We live in a world where we can express our feelings and no one can tell you how you should feel. For example there has been some debate for some time now about writers who are mostly white. If an individual want to become a writer that doesn’t mean you the person has to be white because historically many writers have been white. Everyone can be a writer and write anything they desire. What I mean by this is that there are no boundaries or limitations to what a person should be able to do. If a person wants to become a lawyer, a writer, artist, and musician or be in any other field, that individual deserves that opportunity. This is exactly what social justice is. Getting individuals to become aware that everyone has an opportunity to be whom they want.
An injustice is exactly the opposite of what justice is. It is being unfair, no logical reasoning, and being ignorant. I have witnessed injustice myself. Some of my teachers were fired for no reason. These teachers were amazing and taught many students. These teachers dedicated their time and had put in many extra overtime hours to assist students. It was incorrect for the school system to do something like this to our school by firing good teachers. Students in our school united together and managed to bring the teacher's back by having a sit in. These teachers deserved to stay because they were more than teachers, they were family and brought real life lessons to the classroom. These real life lessons have not only benefited but so many other students. Thanks to these great teachers who took great time to dedicate us with their knowledge I and other students can apply these learned skills and lessons out in the real world. It was justice for the teachers to stay and teach many more students about the real world and opportunities. The problem with our community is that many people are confusing the meaning of social justice. Many individuals are lacking knowledge and are getting influenced by negative things and other people because of the lack of resources in the community. Justice needs to come to our neighborhoods and reduce the amount of killings and shootings by providing support systems, knowledge, and activities.
We have not found justice because there are still several mistakes people keep making. It is really important to have several resources available to limit the amount of bad decisions teens make when joining gang. My brothers were never able to finish high school. They needed to go to a school far away because they no high school near our home. My brothers had to travel through gang boundaries, which caused many fights. My brothers decided not to go to school anymore because they feared for their life every day, therefore they never finished high school. It was an injustice for my brothers not to have a school around their neighborhood and having to travel gang boundaries to get to their high school. The neighborhood faces many obstacles. The school in our neighborhood isn’t considered good because we live with high rates of killings. Some perceive us as criminals or bad people that will not make it out. It is an injustice when the city builds all these buildings for the rich people to live in because they have enough money while poor parents wish to work more hours to get more money. Where do all these families go to when their houses are being destroyed and being replaced with this luxury buildings for the high class? They have nowhere to go and with no resources available for them it forces parent and teens to make poor decisions. The lack of resources creates a higher crime rate and less open opportunities to help individuals. One of best alternatives is in creating educational buildings, green spaces, and more facilities with activities. The more education buildings we have the more teens will be able to perform in school and listen to the lessons taught so that these teens can benefit from their decisions in the future. In order to achieve social justice in our community all of us must always be motivated every day to make sure we make a change. We need to be motivated not for a reward, but to overcome something that we really want to achieve. We need to be motivated every day so that we can help our children become successful. The more children we have graduating high school and attending college the more good examples younger generations can follow. My school, Social Justice, has taught me several important concepts about life. I have learned to always be prepared for anything to be thrown at you. There will always be decisions that a person will have to make. Social Justice has taught me to make the right decisions and to never forget where I come from. Social Justice is like a family and we are filled with so much communication when things go wrong. We work together to find alternatives. The most important thing Social Justice has taught me is to approach different people, interact with others, and be prepared for the real world because I will face many obstacles that will put my morals and values at test. Commitment is an important value because it will show the amount of time you put in, shows your true character, and the wanted result. For example being excellent in my work and putting my effort into all assignments. If I put in all the hard work then I will get good results. It is also important that one must be ready to struggle, but without struggle we will see no improvement. That is why we must stay strong and believe in ourselves that anything can be done. Social Justice can only be defined without ignorance, to have an open mind, and want a change for the better of others or a group of people.
