My topic is about gang involvement and why do certain people join gangs and the way people think when first thinking of becoming a member. It states that many members join gangs because of antisocial personality type that triggers them to join gangs. This personality type makes them often act rashly, and they usually don't think or care about how their behavior will affect others. Not realizing certain things the person does before making choices. Young teens tend to avoid others and not be social around people. Can’t seem to find similarities with others and harder for the person to fit in with a group. Only finds people with the same personality because they understand each other and can relate to one another. Gangs target young teens who are trying to fit in middle school and still question themselves of who they want to be around with. Being so young the Teens are curious and can easily be influence with bad things. Young people join gangs because of the need of feeling belong, for protection, to make money, and to have place to chill and do things. The protection is because they are scared that others can harm them and mess with them. Calling them names and making fun of the person. The person in the head is feelings sad and angry and wants protection so that no one messes with him and no one says anything. Want to make money because money can get you anything you desire and it’s easy to get money with drugs so teens decide to sell drugs to get quick money and still be with the gang not having to hear others boss you around. Some teens like the thrill of doing something to see if they can get by with it because they can say they did it and not be called names. This can include engaging in illegal activities and many teens enjoy the high or rush they get from breaking the law and defying authority because it feels good when doing it but not realizing there’s always consequences. Most researchers believed that people joined gangs because of fear, intimidation or social pressure. Now new research has identified extreme antisocial personality as a major reason why some criminals and young teens join gangs. Mostly they are actively seeking like minded individuals with whom they can find acceptance and common values. When a child is small they should follow the principles of appropriate discipline, lessons in behavior modification, social and problem-solving skills, parent training, family therapy, and psychotherapy may help reduce the chance that at risk children go on to become adults with antisocial personality disorder. Basically you must assist your child in good behavior and be aware of everything your child does and making sure he not getting involved with things that will affect him later in life. There no real treatment for antisocial Personality. The person must know how to follow the rules of society and not be ignorance and do whatever the person desires. AP Psychology has taught me so more and made me realize certain things in life. The army tries to control our minds to fight fake wars and wars that didn’t have to start. Never put information in your head just because others believe so you can only believe in something if you keep believing. Our minds are able to do many things to be able to detect noises and touch it’s all the brain that helps you receive any information.
8). Describe your own and others reactions before, during, and after each violation?
The reactions that I recieve from others was turning heads. People tried to see and understand my shirt that had green space images in the back and gun wounds in my front shirt with a gun. People didn't understand what my shirt meant or what it represents. As I would walk pass people and look back they would look back trying too see the back of my shirt to understand the front side of my shirt.
9.) How did the rections compare to what you had antipated? I didnt expect people to actually look at my shirt but the students at my school did. After seeing me multipy times they ask me what my shirt meant and I explained to them what the shirt represents and they understood and smile. I never thought people would ask me questions about my shirt but most poeple ask me questions in during lunch time.
10.) Note any differences between the groups reactions and discuss possible reasons for them.
The groups reactions were confused faces and shocking faces becuase of the bullet wounds in my shirt. The people were trying to figure out what the bullets wounds represented or what my shirt was trying to explain. They didn't understand that my shirt was demonstrating how green space can help students prevent from joining a gang. The more green space the more interacting with children and playing outside with others.
11.) Why does the norm you choose to violate exist? What would happen if it didnt exist? Would the results be good or bad?
My norm exist becuase i want others to be inform about my topic and that it really matters specially in Chicago there has to be more green space for children. If my norm doesnt exist others wont care and wont be inform about how green space can make a differences in people's life.
12.) Did you experience stimulate any other questions? How would you test those question? One question is If people are inform about important issues you think the poeple will do anything to make a difference or live life as usual.
13.)Look up the “spotlight effect” (not the kind that relates to photography or photoshop). Define it (in your own words) and describe how it relates to your experience. Spotlight effect means that if you think that everyone is noticing you and what you are tryin to explain. This relates to my experience becuase with having bullets wounds in my shirt am preety sure the people looked shock to if i was in a gang or trying to support gang involvment.
14.) What did this exercise teach you about the social justice activism as a method for changing the world?
If we want a change we must do somthing to make a difference. Not sit back and hope that others make the change when you know you can make the difference. We as social justice we learn to speak and use our mouth as sympbol of a voice that must be heard. We will only change the world if we inform others and bringing everyone as one.
